Are Your Volunteers Trained in First Aid?
First aid is the immediate treatment given before regular medical care is available. Whenever possible, it's strongly recommended that first-aid training opportunities be made available to your Region's volunteers, with particular emphasis on basic training for coaches.
Training should be conducted by certified professionals from local organizations such as a chapter of the American Red Cross
, the Fire Department or hospital, who are often willing to volunteer their time.
It's highly recommended that all coaches receive basic first-aid training; however, it's not a requirement that all coaches be first-aid certified.
