What CVPAs Need to Know About eSign
All eAYSO eSign volunteer applications are legally signed when submitted in eAYSO by the volunteer, and therefore the CVPA is not required to forward a hand-signed copy to the Safe Haven department for background screening. Regions using eSign are also exempt from storing eSigned copies of volunteer application forms at the Region level.
However, any hand-written volunteer applications submitted to the Region must still be verified, signed, input by the CVPA and forwarded to Safe Haven. Also, all volunteer identities must still be confirmed with a valid U.S. government-issued photo I.D. and references must still be checked for new volunteers.
Be sure to use the Volunteer Applicant Export report function in eAYSO and select the "convicted" field to identity any flagged volunteers or volunteers who answered "yes" to the conviction question. Do not register or assign these volunteers to positions until cleared by Safe Haven.
Every Monday morning, all new volunteer applicants will be submitted for Sex Offender Registry checks and all eSigned flagged applications will automatically be submitted for criminal background checks. Learn more about eSign.
